The song has a distinct dancehall vibe. We would go to in the Caribbean and just dance and drink and smoke and flirt. In an interview with Vogue , Rihanna addressed her elided pronunciation on the chorus. I felt like if I enunciated the words too perfectly, it would just not be the same attitude or the same sass.

This song is definitely a song that represents my culture, and so I had to put a little twist on my delivery. I mean, Drake has a lot to offer. Everything he does is so amazing. We know each other. That one came about by just having a conversation with a few producers that I work with, Allen Ritter and Sevn Thomas.

We were talking about the vibe from back in the day, how dancehall music used to make people feel and make the girls dance. Everybody wanted to dance when dancehall music came on. That was really the idea when we were creating the track. That was the vibe. We were just having fun in the studio. He was actually working with Rihanna. I was born in Jamaica and I grew up on dancehall music. My dad would play only dancehall in the house. I really wanted to bring back the feel of how I felt when I heard that riddim, you know?

I took a little sample from that and replayed the melody and worked it amazing. I mean, it did before, but when you make music and you make the style, you do something innovative, people are just going to do it. You could get angry about it but I prefer to just move on and do something else. Music changes so quick.

I just love when people love my music. A lot of people do it for other reasons, and obviously, music can change your life and feed your family. But for me, it all started with making good music. We'll have things fixed soon. Dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt! So me put in Work, work, work, work, work, work When you ah guh Learn, learn, learn, learn, learn. Yeah, okay You need to get done, done, done, done at work, come over We just need to slow the motion Don't give that away to no one Long distance, I need you When I see potential I just gotta see it through.

If you had a twin, I would still choose you I don't wanna rush into it, if it's too soon But I know you need to get done, done, done, done If you come over Sorry if I'm way less friendly I got niggas tryna end me, oh I spilled all my emotions tonight, I'm sorry Rollin', rollin', rollin', rollin', rollin' How many more shots until you're rollin'?

We just need a face to face You could pick the time and the place You spent some time away Now you need to forward and give me all the Work, work, work, work, work, work He said me haffi Work, work, work, work, work, work He se me do mi Dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt!

So me put in Work, work, work, work, work, work When you ah guh Learn, learn, learn, learn, learn Meh nuh cyar if him Hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurting. Mmmmm, mmmmm Mmmmm, mmmmm Work, work, work, work, work, work Mmmmm, mmmmm. Please click here if you are not redirected within a few seconds.

Rihanna - Work Lyrics Rihanna. What does this song mean to you? A handful of music critics have put down Rihanna's "Work" because they think she's speaking "gibberish.

It's , y'all—ain't nobody got time for your ignorance. I speak patois so I know what she's saying. Work, work, work, work, work He seh mi haffi work, work, work, work, work He si mi duh mi dirt, dirt, dirt dirt, dirt Suh mi bedda work, work, work work, work When yuh ah guh learn, learn, learn, learn, learn Mi nuh cyar if him hurt, hurt hurt, hurt, hurting Translate some of the Patios words to English. Since they are not from the Caribbean they would not know that's its not gibberish but Patois.

Caribbean dialect shared between our small countries: Dancehall music us full of this. Just cause u dint understand a certain language don't mean it doesn't make sense. With "Work" at 60 cumulative weeks at no. We all stayed there for three or four days, and literally it was like a beat factory.

Everyone was sitting there working and collaborating with each other. First the "work" as in "working on your relationship" is not what this song is about -- "work" in a relationship context is not a very Caribbean way of expressing that idea, and other lyrics in the song confirm that this is not about working on a relationship. This song is a about a the strained relationship of a girl who "works" for her money -- street work.

On first hearing this, I thought it was a parody It took seven peoeple to write this garbage? We are doomed as a society. Oh but one thing for sure she got game and a heart of gold and knows the lyrics better than anyone any one anyone any on she knows this to me was coming in a lot and she ready to see the true meaning of the passion in her songs.
