Britt Whitehead on April 14, at 7: Our consultants sell hand-crafted faith-based jewelry made in Atlanta by struggling moms. I work 3 to 4 hours before my kids get up in the morning. I do still work at home, thank goodness, as I started with a brand new network marketing company called RemeVerse anti-aging, science-based skincare. Indeed helps people get jobs:
Although there are work-from-home jobs in practically every industry, the top fields for flexible jobs are medical and health, HR and recruiting, computer and IT, and education and training, as well as accounting and finance, government, and travel and hospitality.
In my pre-kid life, I never imagined that someday I'd be a stay-at-home mom—hey, I didn't go to grad school to spend my days changing diapers. But when I held my first baby, Mathilda, I had a complete change of heart. As soon as we locked eyes, all those career and financial worries faded. They didn't disappear, but they certainly became secondary. I have tons of friends with similar experiences. They're not clones—today's stay-at-home mom SAHM may be a tattooed rock singer, the CEO of her own company or a green-living activist—but they all have something in common: If you're considering life as a SAHM, both sweet rewards and tough challenges await.
Read on for insight and advice from experts and moms who've been in the trenches. No firm statistics exist on how many are run by stay-at-home moms, but it stands to reason that the percentage is increasing in the Wi-Fi age.
In the past, moms have been reluctant to tell clients they work from home. Now it's commonplace, even respectable. Web design, attorney, marketing guru, social media coaching, you name it. Plug "mom bloggers" into a search engine and you'll come up with thousands of SAHMs who chronicle their daily lives online.
Moms share stories and tips about single parenting, adoption, home schooling and more. The most popular blogs, like the Pioneer Woman and Dooce, turned their authors into celebrities who rack up book and movie deals.
Jen Singer, the New Jersey mom of two who created mommasaid. Making a living from a blog is tough, she adds, but there are other perks. A Pew Research Center survey shows that more at-home moms today 48 percent consider being home full time the ideal situation than they did 10 years ago 39 percent. Inversely, just 21 percent of working moms say working full time is ideal, down from 32 percent in Many of these young women look at their baby boomer moms and question why they'd want to be them.
Some of those moms struggled in their marriages and had a tough time balancing work and family, she says. That doesn't mean today's SAHM has abandoned her career aspirations or traded her BlackBerry for an ironing board, just that she's more concerned about living a balanced life than proving she's Superwoman.
The landscape has certainly changed; now, instead of "Work versus staying home? It can be a crazy juggling act on some days, but most WAHMs say the multitasking is worth it. Working at home is still work, there's just not someone else telling you what to do and when to do it. The key to success is being self-motivated to haul youself out of bed at dawn and get cracking before the baby wakes up—or stay up past baby's bedtime, when you're likely tired too.
Crossing your fingers and winging it is not enough. Since my husband, Tony, works nights, he was often able to take the babies when I had phone interviews or pressing deadlines. I've also done swaps with other moms, hired baby sitters to fill in during crunch times and kept a stash of exciting new toys to pull out when necessary.
A crinkly orange caterpillar once bought me about 15 minutes of quiet time. Nap time is almost always work time for WAHMs. Even if it's a tiny corner of your dining room, you need a physical space devoted to work. Being an at-home mom allowed me to take advantage of opportunities that would have been difficult in the 9-to-5 world. If I wanted to have coffee with a nearby mom friend, for instance, we broke out the strollers and went.
If I felt like taking the baby to the park for an afternoon and playing peekaboo in the grass, I didn't have to clear it with anyone. At-home moms don't have to worry about toting the industrial-strength breast pump to the office or pumping in the bathroom.

I am a JewerlyinCandles business owner. There are no monthly website fees, no monthly quotas, etc.. I work for Alpine Access powered by Sykes at Home. Alpine has about 60 companies that outsource their phone calls to them. They then hire people at home to answer those calls. You have to have a quiet environment, so I would recommend this if you can get childcare, or if your SO can watch the kids while you do it. If you have a reference you are more likely to get a job, and I get a bonus for referring people.
So far i have been paid by amazon gift cards and by paypal transfers. Register and complete surveys and keep earning. These few bucks can help you buy something you wanted to buy for baby but was hesitant to waste money. Give it a try and you ll be surprised. Such great ideas in the post and comments! It is extremely important for mothers to find a balance between work and home.
When you find a legit stay at home position, it may become even harder to find that balance because of the comfort of being home some of us may not be able to take work as serious not being in a work environment. My advice as a stay at home mom is to remember what and who you are doing this for.
I wish every single one of you the best! I am a new mom to the most amazing little boy who is almost 4 months old. Please help with suggestions! I can relate to your story… I dreaded going back to work after maternity leave. So glad I found a way to create residual income from home!

Making money blogging is difficult, it requires growing an audience, blogging regularly, and a lot of other marketing tactics. As someone who has started many, many blogs that failed, I can tell you that starting a food related blog is the easiest and quickest way to make money with a blog.

I babysat for a couple of years but that got hard to do while home schooling. I love the company and the products. Let me know if you want info about the company. I used to be an adoption social worker prior to staying home with my kids.

Hi, I love this post! So I also became a LegalShield Associate, offering excellent legal and identity theft protection services.
When my oldest two children went off to college, I found our single income budget insufficient. So I started an etsy shop. My original goal was to help my kids buy their college textbooks. I am really blessed to be able to stay home with our youngest and do something online that I love. I started working for Jamberry a few months ago and it has gone above and beyond my expectations.
I made back my start-up cost plus MORE just in my first month alone!! Lots of great ideas here! I have been working with a great health and wellness company, Isagenix, as they have a wonderfully generous compensation plan and their products are amazing! Plus, I love helping people take control of their health and wealth. Hello all, I am a full time college student, wife, and mommy to one active 5 yr old who I homeschool. Told a few friends that I thought would like it and get paid for the referral. I was just released from a job that made me feel And said I was incompetent. Not even work well at a fast-food joint.
I was wanting to get my Photography off the ground but am worried that it is a useless effort. I think Data entry would be good? If they said you are incompetent it may be just a thing to say when you have to get rid of someone. If you love photography, than go for it. From my personal experience, I had most success when I did not set for less than what I really want. For every skill, passion or dream job it takes patience and persistence to succeed. No one ever woke up successful.
Adelaide, I can tell you right now that you are not incompetent! Maybe when my student loans are paid! I love this community and just discovered it! With the fastest growing company in the US weekly paychecks!! Yes, you will need training. However, this is a real and promising career. Their training is done online and is self-paced. You could finish the program in 4 months but 6 months is probably more realistic. They do however give you up to a year to get it all done. They work specifically with a company called IOD inc. Very useful information above. I like how it went over ALL the different ways to make money online.

I was a public school teacher for ten years, then I did two internships in the book publishing industry in NYC. I realized A I was awesome at it. When my first son was born, I was able to split my days, working three days in the office and two days at home.
When I got pregnant with my second, my family and I relocated across the country—and Edgenuity let me stay on full-time remote. Cutting out all the costs and frustrations of a daily commute [which was 3 hours a day minimum living in NYC] and gaining back that time with my family has been priceless.

Some sell jewelry, some pedal cosmetics or essential oils. Those are great ideas for the natural-born salesperson. Some are bloggers and write for income. That sounds interesting but requires a great level of writing skill. I read several posts from the creative and crafty who actually create things to sell on a popular shopping site.
My mind remains a blank slate. After working as a RN for many years and struggling with my own health issues, I was forced to leave the only career I found true passion in. Two years ago, I rediscovered that passion for learning and became interested in. Not the Birds and the Bees from middle school, but the deeper, more intimate details. After years of absorbing information, I found giving advice and sharing knowledge to other woman was as rewarding, if not more, than nursing.
Finally, I feel I have regained my self worth and again feel the satisfaction of helping others. I only have one minor hiccup…. I have NO earthly idea how to find or reach out to those I can help. Please, anyone, help me! After earning a college degree in English, I married and had three kids.

It sounds like you have a great recipe for success for moving to a work at home situation with your background and experience.
I always recommend that women stick with what they already know when making this transition. One option would be to look for companies that offer remote working for their employees, many do and many will if you ask. Alternately, you could start your own consulting business. I know it is scary to take that leap and leave your secure corporate job.
Kids having time with their parents is important, moms having the margin to love their kids well is important, putting a roof over your heads and food on the table is also crucial! I would also add that maybe you can think through changes you can make on the spending side to help offset the loss of income if you quit your job to work from home.
